I worked in a very “German” team. How “German” was it? Well, they believed that all Asians could communicate perfectly with one another, with no cultural or language barriers. Even though Yo-Yo Ma is an American citizen, as long as his name is Yo-Yo Ma, he’s Asian—he’s Chinese. I’m Chinese too, so those two Chinese people are bound to make the concert a huge success (please join me in giving this a big “what the heck” face, thanks).
Actually, it’s not just Yo-Yo Ma. As the first non-German/non-German-descended employee in the company’s centuries-long history, whenever a concert features an Asian or Asian-American musician, people at the company automaticall
